When Ronaldo Baião fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SLB TELHA's protests and gave Ronaldo Baião a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes SLB TELHA got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo Baião. Volvio Moreno's Rodolfo Abalos got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, SLB TELHA's Ilídio Braga got a free kick in the 13th minute. Baldomero Martinez kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Abílio Gois made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Higinio Romano in the 22nd minute of play. Nivaldo Pessoas short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Anier Venceslao to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. SLB TELHA's Nivaldo Pessoa got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The corner led SLB TELHA's João Nascimento to fire away a dangerous shot which Anier Venceslao despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After a rather tough play, SLB TELHA's Aristides Espírito Santo got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Higinio Romano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Abílio Gois made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Neiva in the 59th minute of play forced Volvio Moreno's goalkeeper Anier Venceslao to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 66 minutes into the game, Flávio Esparteiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SLB TELHA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Volvio Moreno the free kick.
