When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Flavio Blai sped through Botafogo AP's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Chiquinho Vasconcelos. Leo Paskal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Botafogo AP's goal looked a bit too open when Flavio Blai came free, but Chiquinho Vasconcelos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eriberto Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Celedonio Peruxu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of San Martin de Tucuman booed when Botafogo AP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Pedro Coelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Flavio Blai to strike the kick off in the second half. San Martin de Tucuman's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Flavio Blai in the 52nd minute. A nice corner shot did that Flavio Blai got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Chiquinho Vasconcelos quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The San Martin de Tucuman fans' excitement grew in the 56th match minute when San Martin de Tucuman's Flavio Blai looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Clemente Lopes charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Clemente Lopes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Frank Goiano replaced José Pedro Coelho. Clemente Lopes kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Chiquinho Vasconcelos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blas Oxarra in the 66th minute of play. San Martin de Tucuman's Jonathan Victoro was substituted for Esteban Bitxintxo. Flavio Blai sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Botafogo AP defense, Flavio Blai kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chiquinho Vasconcelos. The Botafogo AP fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chiquinho Vasconcelos should have stopped the shot. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Mané Souza replaced Clóvis das Neves. In the 84th minute of the match Eugenio Orland sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chiquinho Vasconcelos skillfully saved the ball. Flavio Blai struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Chiquinho Vasconcelos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Martin de Tucuman. San Martin de Tucuman's Maximo Arotza was substituted for Gregorio Atarrabi. Botafogo AP's Humberto Maia was substituted for André Luís Trigo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavio Blai in the 90th minute of play forced Botafogo AP's goalkeeper Chiquinho Vasconcelos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95thth minute of the game Flavio Blai who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Botafogo AP's Chiquinho Vasconcelos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Botafogo AP players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for San Martin de Tucuman.
