The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gustavo Gustavson was out of position in the 4 minute of play, and Jerónimo Cortez capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jerónimo Cortez really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. The audience was convinced that Ateş Direnç's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abílio Aveiro was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. If Ateş Direnç had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 12 played minutes GD Almargense got a freekick which was hit by Arnau Martínez. After having played for 13 minutes, Gustavo-Hernán Cadelo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New Joinville - FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustavo-Hernán Cadelo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leandro Soeiro came free with the goalkeeper in the 15th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gustavo Gustavson could save by the left post. New Joinville - FSCMZ's Chiquinho de Amorim managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Callum Doyle in the 16 minute of the game. After 20 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for New Joinville - FSCMZ! Abílio Aveiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fermín Buendia, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Fermín Buendia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abílio Aveiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Jerónimo Cortez charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jerónimo Cortez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 34 played minutes GD Almargense got a freekick which was hit by Jerónimo Cortez. GD Almargense's Leandro Soeiro got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnau Martínez in the 42nd minute of play forced New Joinville - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Gustavo Gustavson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. New Joinville - FSCMZ's Gustavo Gustavson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laurentino Fontes in the 46th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Igor Matanović to make the kick off. In the 55th minute Igor Matanović shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Gustavson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute Armando Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abílio Aveiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 60 minutes into the game, Leandro Soeiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Gustavo Gustavson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. GD Almargense's Luís Casado was substituted for Jerónimo Cortez. GD Almargense's Hamilton Pires was substituted for Laurentino Fontes. Filipe Valido hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After 67 played minutes GD Almargense got a freekick which was hit by Arnau Martínez. Fermín Buendia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Abílio Aveiro made a huge save. The supporters of New Joinville - FSCMZ booed when GD Almargense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Valido didn't get a good kick on the ball. 76 minutes into the match, New Joinville - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Hamilton Pires came free, but Gustavo Gustavson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustavo Gustavson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hamilton Pires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abílio Aveiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fermín Buendia in the 85th minute. Fermín Buendia received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Abílio Aveiro came out and tried to block the shot, but Fermín Buendia slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 85th minute. A collision led to New Joinville - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Xandinho Thuram hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Hamilton Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot. GD Almargense's supporters rose to their feet, but Hamilton Pires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustavo Gustavson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 95th minute GD Almargense were awarded a corner. Filipe Valido went to the cornerflag to take it. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. GD Almargense fully deserved thier win.
