Fabio Ponce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás de Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector-Luis Cadrecha in the 17th minute of play forced Fabiofs's goalkeeper Pedro Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Mazza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hector-Luis Cadrecha in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goal looked a bit too open when Elano de Salles came free, but Fabio Ponce reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustín Pipa got free with Pedro Mazza in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 25 minutes into the match, Fabiofs's goal looked a bit too open when Rubén Puerta came free, but Pedro Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goal looked a bit too open when Elano de Salles came free, but Fabio Ponce reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute Hector-Luis Cadrecha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabiofs's Pedro Mazza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Fabiofs from getting a goal against them. Agustín Pipa made in the 40th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Agustín Pipa however managed to control. After 43 played minutes Fabiofs got a freekick which was hit by Júlio Gaspar. George Galera, 43 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The supporters of Fabiofs booed when Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quiróz Maquiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elano de Salles to make the kick off. After recieving a nice pass, Fabiofs's Milton Friedman tried to score from far away in the 52nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 61st match minute, Fabiofs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benjamin Arruda to maneuver through the defense. In the 65th minute Perlaza Corcoba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato were furious when Quiróz Maquiano was red carded, 69 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a defensive mix-up in Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's zone, Milton Friedman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabio Ponce came out of the goal and Milton Friedman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 77th minute, Elano de Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. George Galera kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Pedro Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector-Luis Cadrecha in the 81st minute of play. When Elano de Salles came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Fabiofs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elano de Salles couldn't finish the play. 93 minutes into the match, Fabiofs's goal looked a bit too open when Hector-Luis Cadrecha came free, but Pedro Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
