An unexpectedly hard shot by Herminio Santo in the 20th minute of play forced Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goalkeeper Fabio Ponce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Perlaza Corcoba hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute Hector-Luis Cadrecha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cortez Obispo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Herminio Santo to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Hector-Luis Cadrecha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector-Luis Cadrecha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sportivo Mela Banco's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato the free kick. After 64 played minutes Sportivo Mela Banco got a freekick which was hit by Evelio Enaut. Fabio Ponce made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filiberto Sauveur in the 66th minute of play. The supporters of Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato booed when Sportivo Mela Banco was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jesus Bixintxo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cortez Obispo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Perlaza Corcoba in the 76th minute. After 89 played minutes Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato got a freekick which was hit by Ximenez Cuellar. When Clemente Rozarius was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 90 minutes had been played. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
