Fabio Ponce made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kelvin de Boer in the 6th minute of play. Menno Bodde could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Fabio Ponce made a huge save. Fabio Ponce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danny van den Hoogen, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. With a little luck, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Fabio Ponce got control of the ball when Kelvin de Boer tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 17 played minutes Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato got a freekick which was hit by Vimaro Clemente. 20 minutes into the game, Danny van den Hoogen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Fabio Ponce was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 28thth minute of the game Xalvador Riegas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but De Pelgrims's Hendrik Adriaanse was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 30 played minutes De Pelgrims got a freekick which was hit by Raymond Baptist. 31 minutes into the match, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Vimaro Clemente broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 35 minutes into the match, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goalkeeper Fabio Ponce had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frits Beuneker. In the 45th match minute, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Udalaitz Lluch to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frits Beuneker to make the kick off. Fabio Ponce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Menno Bodde, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. When Vimaro Clemente came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vimaro Clemente couldn't finish the play. Frits Beuneker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabio Ponce read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. In the 67th minute Kelvin de Boer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Ponce saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Geovanni Valle got a free kick in the 70th minute. When De Pelgrims's Kelvin de Boer in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to De Pelgrims getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Danny van den Hoogen hit a great ball. Frits Beuneker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Fabio Ponce tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Danny van den Hoogen's late challenge caught a Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danny van den Hoogen helped the player get up and apologised. In the 89th minute, Danny van den Hoogen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Kelvin de Boer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. De Pelgrims had won after a very even match.
