Sólbjörn Guðnason started the match with the kick off. The audience was convinced that Sólbjörn Guðnason's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Verner Gustavsson was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Æsir Ásgarðr's Mórits Hamarsson got a free kick in the 13th minute. Mathías Oddsson lost his temper 16 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The supporters of Höglunda IK booed when Æsir Ásgarðr was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mathías Oddsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olof Engström took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Skarphéðinn Ormarsson. Æsir Ásgarðr's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 19th minute, Alfred Källberg collided with one of Æsir Ásgarðr's players - so bad that he fractured his nose. Skjöldur Reimarsson charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Skjöldur Reimarsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Höglunda IK made a substitution. Jan-Erik Mårtensson replaced Alfred Källberg. In the 21st match minute, Æsir Ásgarðr was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Skjöldur Reimarsson to maneuver through the defense. Höglunda IK's Olof Engström got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27th minute, Dýri Jósafatsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ámundi Hallmundsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 37th minute of the match, Sólbjörn Guðnason got a very nice opportunity to score, but Verner Gustavsson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A collision led to Höglunda IK getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Melker Abrahamsson hit a great ball. In the 40th minute, Jarl Kormáksson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rudolf Ármannsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the game, Æsir Ásgarðr's Sólbjörn Guðnason nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Verner Gustavsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The supporters of Höglunda IK booed when Æsir Ásgarðr was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sólbjörn Guðnason didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jan-Erik Mårtensson was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Æsir Ásgarðr was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maggi Borgþórsson to maneuver through the defense. Verner Gustavsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ámundi Hallmundsson in the 58th minute of play. A collision led to Æsir Ásgarðr getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Ámundi Hallmundsson hit a great ball. Ámundi Hallmundsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Verner Gustavsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, Höglunda IK's goal looked a bit too open when Sólbjörn Guðnason came free, but Verner Gustavsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Staffan Björk hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Ámundi Hallmundsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd match minute, Höglunda IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Staffan Björk to maneuver through the defense. Verner Gustavsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jarl Kormáksson in the 75th minute of play. Æsir Ásgarðr's Ámundi Hallmundsson got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 78 minutes into the match, Sólbjörn Guðnason had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Verner Gustavsson. Höglunda IK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sólbjörn Guðnason was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Verner Gustavsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sólbjörn Guðnason went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Æsir Ásgarðr's Jarl Kormáksson got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Verner Gustavsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sólbjörn Guðnason, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Æsir Ásgarðr's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
