Verner Gustavsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sólbjörn Guðnason, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Verner Gustavsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ámundi Hallmundsson in the 17th minute of the match. Æsir Ásgarðr were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after Höglunda IK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sólbjörn Guðnason took the corner. Jarl Kormáksson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Verner Gustavsson having to interfere. In the 23rd match minute, Höglunda IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfred Källberg to maneuver through the defense. Verner Gustavsson came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Æsir Ásgarðr's John Bogason. But to his dismay, John Bogason quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Æsir Ásgarðr's Sólbjörn Guðnason in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Höglunda IK's goalie prevented a goal. Verner Gustavsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sólbjörn Guðnason's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Josef Sjöberg hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Höglunda IK's goalkeeper Verner Gustavsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tobias Barck during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tobias Barck hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Höglunda IK defense, Sólbjörn Guðnason kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Verner Gustavsson. The Höglunda IK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Verner Gustavsson should have stopped the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfred Källberg made a kick off. Höglunda IK's defense didn't have a chance, in the 57th minute, when Sólbjörn Guðnason scored to the left of an out of position Verner Gustavsson, making the score, 0-4. After 65 minutes, Sólbjörn Guðnason mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Æsir Ásgarðr and the Höglunda IK players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 65 played minutes Æsir Ásgarðr got a freekick which was hit by Sólbjörn Guðnason. Vallaður Hermansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Verner Gustavsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Höglunda IK getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Staffan Björk hit a great ball. With a little luck, Höglunda IK's Verner Gustavsson got control of the ball when Mórits Hamarsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Verner Gustavsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sólbjörn Guðnason, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Höglunda IK's Verner Gustavsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sólbjörn Guðnason in the 85th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Höglunda IK's goalkeeper Verner Gustavsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sólbjörn Guðnason. 93 minutes into the match, John Bogason dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Verner Gustavsson, 0-5.
