When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Platão Romário sped through Sporting de Gijón's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Desiderio Frederik. With an all-out effort, FC ICEWIND DALE's Desiderio Frederik threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Platão Romário, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Desiderio Frederik got control of the ball when Platão Romário tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 19th match minute, FC ICEWIND DALE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antoni Sliwinski to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Blas-Armando Giunta made a precise shot to the right of Emil Zawadzki. FC ICEWIND DALE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 27th minute of the match, Kajetan Bazan got a very nice opportunity to score, but Desiderio Frederik was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Desiderio Frederik made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Kajetan Bazan sent off a good shot on target. Emil Zawadzki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celedonio Kinsen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Blas-Armando Giunta in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emil Zawadzki prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FC ICEWIND DALE's Emil Zawadzki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ezequiel Fernández in the 35th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC ICEWIND DALE's Michal Pyrzyce got a free kick in the 36th minute. Desiderio Frederik made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Platão Romário in the 39th minute of play. Kajetan Bazan came free with the goalkeeper in the 42nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Desiderio Frederik could save by the left post. Celedonio Kinsen hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute, Kajetan Bazan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Desiderio Frederik took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Platão Romário, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kajetan Bazan made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Kajetan Bazan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Desiderio Frederik showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kajetan Bazan, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 59 minutes into the game, Cristian Medina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting de Gijón's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC ICEWIND DALE the free kick. Cristian Medina hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, FC ICEWIND DALE's Robert Kasprzak tried to score from far away in the 60th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Desiderio Frederik showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kajetan Bazan in the 64th minute of the match. The supporters of FC ICEWIND DALE booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruslan Rudchenko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting de Gijón's Arnoldo Ubarna was substituted for Amadeo Panpili. Platão Romário took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Desiderio Frederik. Desiderio Frederik dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Sporting de Gijón's Desiderio Frederik played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Platão Romário in the 79th minute of play. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when FC ICEWIND DALE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sylwester Przybyciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Celedonio Kinsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Desiderio Frederik showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Platão Romário, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. In the 90th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damián Šilha to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st minute of the match Robert Kasprzak shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Desiderio Frederik showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 94th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ezequiel Fernández to maneuver through the defense. FC ICEWIND DALE were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sporting de Gijón for a fine match.
