The audience was convinced that Caetano Toscano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Akira Schmid was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Akira Schmid showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Toscano, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Akira Schmid made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Toscano in the 14th minute of play. Espen Steelers's Akira Schmid played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eriberto Vidal in the 32nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Caetano Toscano in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Akira Schmid prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Waka Barcellos kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Raphael Aregger could shoot a difficult shot in the 37th minute, which Waldir Peres however easily saved by the left post. Akira Schmid showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Toscano, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 41st minute of the match Barcellos Mineiro FC got a corner. Espen Steelers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Waka Barcellos ran over to the corner to take the kick. Waka Barcellos made a great header on Barcellos Mineiro FC's corner, it was just that Espen Steelers's Akira Schmid managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 44th minute Fabian Schär shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The supporters of Espen Steelers booed when Barcellos Mineiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Galo Mineiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Andres Ambühl managed to get in a good position for a shot. Espen Steelers's supporters rose to their feet, but Andres Ambühl was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
