After a rather tough play, Academia Rio's János Oltean got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Golden Dragón F.C's Florin Quelia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iulian Negulescu in the 9th minute of play. A collision led to Golden Dragón F.C getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Magdaleno Revenga hit a great ball. The corner ended in Horia Berceanu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Golden Dragón F.C's Florin Quelia did a great save. After having played for 14 minutes, Eron Sanez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Golden Dragón F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eron Sanez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. János Oltean hit a great ball. Edelmiro Diz might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iurie Mutu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edelmiro Diz ran back to his position shaking his head. Magdaleno Revenga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Iurie Mutu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Iurie Mutu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edelmiro Diz went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 28 minutes into the game, Nae Martinescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Academia Rio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Golden Dragón F.C the free kick. Iurie Mutu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Magdaleno Revenga in the 28th minute of play. Josu Mendibuey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Iurie Mutu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Academia Rio's Horia Berceanu got a free kick in the 34th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Florin Quelia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Academia Rio's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Horia Berceanu in the 38th minute. After taking down the ball on Academia Rio's corner Horia Berceanu fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Florin Quelia quite easily take care of the ball. Iurie Mutu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edelmiro Diz, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When Golden Dragón F.C's Josu Mendibuey in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Academia Rio's goalie prevented a goal. Josu Mendibueys short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Iurie Mutu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Eron Sanez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Magdaleno Revenga kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Golden Dragón F.C's Edilberto Babiano was substituted for Magdaleno Revenga. Golden Dragón F.C made a substitution. Gaitano Reza replaced Edelmiro Diz. Edgardo Loaisa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iurie Mutu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. In the 70th minute Golden Dragón F.C were awarded a corner. Xurxo Lardero went to the cornerflag to take it. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Gaitano Reza advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 70th minute. Edgardo Loaisa scored 0-4 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iurie Mutu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 80 minutes into the game, Edgardo Loaisa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Iurie Mutu. Edgardo Loaisa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Iurie Mutu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Loaisa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Academia Rio's zone, Edgardo Loaisa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iurie Mutu came out of the goal and Edgardo Loaisa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Golden Dragón F.C supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Golden Dragón F.C would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
