Psycho-Circus's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelino Lartaun was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís Paulo Ferreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 22 minutes into the match, Ian Clementsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edmundo Falcão. Joinville City - FSCMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ian Clementsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Edmundo Falcão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian Clementsson in the 25th minute of play. When Nilson da Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Joinville City - FSCMZ's protests and gave Nilson da Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. After 30 played minutes Joinville City - FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Nilson da Rocha. In the 32nd minute Ian Clementsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmundo Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the game, Humberto Cordarell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Edmundo Falcão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Edmundo Falcão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ian Clementsson in the 45th minute of play. In the 45thth minute of the game Ian Clementsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Joinville City - FSCMZ's Edmundo Falcão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nilson da Rocha hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ian Clementsson was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match Joinville City - FSCMZ got a corner. Psycho-Circus's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luizinho Velasco ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Joinville City - FSCMZ's corner Luizinho Velasco fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Paul Stanley quite easily take care of the ball. After 54 minutes, Luizinho Velasco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Joinville City - FSCMZ and the Psycho-Circus players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Joinville City - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Luizinho Velasco hit a great ball. If Luís Paulo Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luizinho Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Paul Stanley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Joinville City - FSCMZ booed when Psycho-Circus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustin Ugutz didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 76th minute of the match Luizinho Velasco completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Luizinho Velasco a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Luizinho Velasco kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Psycho-Circus defense, Cristiano Baptista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paul Stanley. The Psycho-Circus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paul Stanley should have stopped the shot. In the 84th minute Ian Clementsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmundo Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paul Stanley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciro Queiroz in the 94th minute of the match. Osmane Molhamam kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Luís Paulo Ferreira, 97 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The Psycho-Circus supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Psycho-Circus would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
