The referee ignored Palmeiras's protests and gave Artur Fonelleda a yellow card for diving instead. 5 minutes into the match, Flamengo FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Cunha came free, but Luís Fábio Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luís Fábio Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amadeo Tuste in the 6th minute of play. In the 7th minute Tião Tróia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fábio Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Palmeiras's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by João Adolfo Mota in the 9th minute. The corner ended in João Adolfo Mota almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Flamengo FSCMZ's Luís Fábio Silveira did a great save. After 12 played minutes Flamengo FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Aílton Paraíba. Caio Boldrini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Luís Fábio Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tião Tróia took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luís Fábio Silveira. Luís Fábio Silveira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. In the 35th minute Aquiles Leonidas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Augusto Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute Adriano Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fábio Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas Torres in the 40th minute of play forced Flamengo FSCMZ's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Silveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the game, Caio Boldrini was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palmeiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flamengo FSCMZ the free kick. A collision led to Palmeiras getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Caio Boldrini hit a great ball. Chico Carneiro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 43rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlos Augusto Recife. Palmeiras's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Flamengo FSCMZ's Luís Fábio Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caio Boldrini in the 45th minute of play. Luís Fábio Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tião Tróia in the 48th minute of the match. Luís Fábio Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeo Tuste, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Palmeiras were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Palmeiras's Nilton Soeiro was substituted for Caio Boldrini. The wind increased when Aquiles Leonidas made the kick off in the second half. Luís Fábio Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Cunha in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st minute, Palmeiras's Tião Tróia dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. In the 64th minute, Eusébio Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luís Fábio Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Tróia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Flamengo FSCMZ's Luís Fábio Silveira got control of the ball when Nilton Soeiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luís Fábio Silveira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nilton Soeiro in the 73rd minute. Carlos Augusto Recife showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luiz Teles in the 77th minute of the match. Luís Fábio Silveira came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Palmeiras's Nilton Soeiro. But to his dismay, Nilton Soeiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Luís Fábio Silveira made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Tião Tróia sent off a good shot on target. Nilton Soeiro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Luís Fábio Silveira when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Aquiles Leonidas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flamengo FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Aquiles Leonidas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Augusto Recife breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 93 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luiz Teles came free, but Carlos Augusto Recife reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Palmeiras's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
