The audience thought a goal was coming when Santa Luis got free with Brice Leach in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 6th minute The Old Boys were awarded a corner. Santa Luis went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, The Old Boys's Justo Perpinya got a free kick in the 11th minute. When Santa Luis came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the The Old Boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Santa Luis couldn't finish the play. 21 minutes into the match, Santa Luis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brice Leach. Varennes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Santa Luis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Generoso Koldobika's late challenge caught a Varennes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Generoso Koldobika helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Varennes booed when The Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Generoso Koldobika didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vinicio Bidari made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lee Coffman in the 28th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Santa Luis made a kick off. The supporters of Varennes booed when The Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcial Daunte didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Old Boys's Vinicio Bidari proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save The Old Boys from getting a goal against them.
