But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Venceslao Solares couldn't finish the play. Harrison McCann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Blake Vogt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. The referee ignored Vancouver Reds's protests and gave Maynard Pike a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vancouver Reds getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Aldo Quick hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Vancouver Reds's Geoffrey Roach got a free kick in the 20th minute. Internacional Pechofrío's Emil Zátopek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Malone in the 29th minute of play. A collision led to Vancouver Reds getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Geoffrey Roach hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frances Grossman to make the kick off. Emil Zátopek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerrold Villeneuve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Internacional Pechofrío's Eliu Bellogin got a free kick in the 55th minute. In the 58th match minute, Vancouver Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maynard Pike to maneuver through the defense. 63 minutes into the game, Jerrold Villeneuve was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vancouver Reds's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Internacional Pechofrío the free kick. In the 63rd minute, Jerrold Villeneuve hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Venceslao Solares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Blake Vogt was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. After 70 played minutes Vancouver Reds got a freekick which was hit by Geoffrey Roach. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Erauso Espantoso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Internacional Pechofrío's supporters rose to their feet, but Erauso Espantoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Blake Vogt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Vancouver Reds's Maynard Pike got a free kick in the 76th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goal looked a bit too open when Jakob Ingebrigtsen came free, but Blake Vogt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erauso Espantoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Eliu Bellogin hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Jerrold Villeneuve received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Emil Zátopek came out and tried to block the shot, but Jerrold Villeneuve slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 96th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
