In the 9thth minute of the game Kurt Hamrin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Lúcio Domingues was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Luiz Fábio Leme put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Rickard Jakobsson. Rickard Jakobsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomás Marques in the 14th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Edgar Svensson managed to get in a good position for a shot. IFK Gladdarna's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgar Svensson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lúcio Domingues breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cássio Aparecido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 22 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Leme. In the 23rd minute Kurt Hamrin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lúcio Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nova Iguaçu MZFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. J.P. J.J. was slow to take the kick. During this time IFK Gladdarna's players had a chance to rest. IFK Gladdarna's J.P. J.J. was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lúcio Domingues in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elói Senna made a kick off. After some careless play in the IFK Gladdarna defense, Luiz Fábio Leme kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rickard Jakobsson. The IFK Gladdarna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rickard Jakobsson should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Kurt Hamrin put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Lúcio Domingues. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fábio Leme got free with Rickard Jakobsson in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of IFK Gladdarna booed when Nova Iguaçu MZFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Freddie Stenberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lúcio Domingues having to interfere. Freddie Stenberg kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Cássio Aparecido got a free kick in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Freddie Stenberg in the 72nd minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Lúcio Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. J.P. J.J. blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lúcio Domingues having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by J.P.
