The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hermelando Lambarrie during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 19th match minute, Zorros del Desierto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hermelando Lambarrie to maneuver through the defense. Patxi Claude struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Prudencio Ubarna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zorros del Desierto. 38 minutes into the match, Zorros del Desierto's goalkeeper Ceferino Balasi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Jurdan. Patxi Claude's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Prudencio Ubarna read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Jorge-Luis Sivieri made the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 51 minutes, Prudencio Ubarna successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After having played for 57 minutes, Patxi Claude managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zorros del Desierto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patxi Claude was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zorros del Desierto's Cerilo Romero was substituted for Rodrigo Pérez. Zorros del Desierto's Simón Chavez was substituted for Jorge-Luis Sivieri. In the 61st minute Hermelando Lambarrie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prudencio Ubarna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Prudencio Ubarna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Shantala in the 66th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Hermelando Lambarrie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Prudencio Ubarna was relentless in the 76th minute of the game.
