When Maksymilian Dziedziak came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the KKS Lech Poznań fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maksymilian Dziedziak couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Ralf Talsma's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jedrzej Kieca was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of Seagulls:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of KKS Lech Poznań:s goal. 1-0 came in the 24th minute when Radomil Murdza all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Jan-Joost Smeekes. Radomil Murdza succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 27th playminute. 31 minutes into the match, KKS Lech Poznań's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Andriessen came free, but Jedrzej Kieca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rogier Veninga hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Ralf Talsma made the kick off in the second half. In the 60th minute Ralf Talsma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jedrzej Kieca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Floris Stühling hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Ralf Talsma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Seagulls's supporters rose to their feet, but Ralf Talsma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jedrzej Kieca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 69 minutes into the match, KKS Lech Poznań's Janusz Zukowski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jan-Joost Smeekes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Martin Andriessen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Jedrzej Kieca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Martin Andriessen kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Stef Pragt's late challenge caught a KKS Lech Poznań's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stef Pragt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 79th match minute, Seagulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stef Pragt to maneuver through the defense. In the 82ndth minute of the game Janusz Zukowski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Seagulls's Jan-Joost Smeekes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
