After recieving a nice pass, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Serginho Arantes tried to score from far away in the 12th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Dida Little played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Ove Bennet in the 14th minute of play. Serginho Arantes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Peter Sjögren made a huge save. Peter Sjögren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Válbson Saraiva in the 17th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goal looked a bit too open when Åke Galle came free, but Dida Little reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Åke Galle in the 20th minute of play forced INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goalkeeper Dida Little to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd match minute, INIXET BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stig-Ove Bennet to maneuver through the defense. Peter Sjögren was a little too slow when Válbson Saraiva got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 30th minute. The score was now 1-0. After 35 played minutes INIXET BK got a freekick which was hit by Erik Sandberg. Serginho Arantes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Peter Sjögren. INIXET BK's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Peter Sjögren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Válbson Saraiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 38 minutes into the match, INIXET BK's goal looked a bit too open when Serginho Arantes came free, but Peter Sjögren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Dieguinho Campidelis dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. When Válbson Saraiva came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Válbson Saraiva couldn't finish the play. With his leg Peter Sjögren managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Serginho Arantes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Serginho Arantes hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

In the 51st minute, Válbson Saraiva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Peter Sjögren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serginho Arantes in the 52nd minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, INIXET BK's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinei Azevedo came free, but Peter Sjögren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peter Sjögren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ezequiel Valle, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. The supporters of INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA booed when INIXET BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sixten Utter didn't get a good kick on the ball. INIXET BK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabinho Queiroz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. In the 89th match minute, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amauri Borges to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in INIXET BK's zone, Válbson Saraiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Sjögren came out of the goal and Válbson Saraiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
