In the 12th minute Serginho Arantes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Sjögren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, INIXET BK's Åke Galle got a free kick in the 12th minute. Einar Rosendahl struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Dida Little didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for INIXET BK. In the 22nd minute, Serginho Arantes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Peter Sjögren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Válbson Saraiva in the 39th minute of the match. After the first half INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Serginho Arantes to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes of play, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Serginho Arantes made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Peter Sjögren was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 67th minute, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Carlinhos Pinho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Dida Little played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Einar Rosendahl in the 71st minute of play. Stig-Ove Bennet kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 83 minutes into the match, INIXET BK's goalkeeper Peter Sjögren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serginho Arantes. But to his dismay, Åke Galle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-7. When the match was over INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than INIXET BK throughout the match.
