After 15 played minutes, Winthont FC's Ronny Hendriks shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marcelo Alves came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Winthont FC reached it. 20 minutes into the match, Mayhem Sharks's goal looked a bit too open when Roger Wijngaart came free, but Marcelo Alves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mayhem Sharks's Marcelo Alves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Floris Talsma in the 27th minute of play. Marcelo Alves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronny Hendriks in the 30th minute of play. After 33 played minutes Winthont FC got a freekick which was hit by Roger Wijngaart. After some careless play in the Mayhem Sharks defense, Niels Schirring kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcelo Alves. The Mayhem Sharks fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcelo Alves should have stopped the shot. 45 minutes into the game, Winthont FC's Floris Talsma nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelo Alves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
