After 23 played minutes Águilas Poblanas got a freekick which was hit by Nicolas Truylos. Cornelio Mino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arturo Lehior in the 24th minute of play. Cecilio Maties charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cecilio Maties the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cecilio Maties kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. The supporters of Águilas Poblanas booed when San Lorenzo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Lehior didn't get a good kick on the ball. Virgilio Guerau kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Rodrigo Jakes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-2 in the 57th playminute. Cornelio Mino came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by San Lorenzo's Arturo Lehior. But to his dismay, Arturo Lehior quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. In the 70th minute Virgilio Monico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Pancho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Erasmo Maureo fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Lorenzo's protests and gave Erasmo Maureo a yellow card for diving instead. Matias Eder took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 71st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alfredo Pancho. San Lorenzo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
