But to his dismay, Carlos Gonçalves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Pavlin Karadimitrov fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Manchester United F.C.'s protests and gave Pavlin Karadimitrov a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Manchester United F.C. getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Pavlin Karadimitrov hit a great ball. After having played for 19 minutes, Valdemar Morais managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Viseu United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valdemar Morais was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 30 minutes, Carlos Gonçalves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Viseu United and the Manchester United F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Carlos Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Inácio Leite took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Haralampi Glavanakov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdemar Morais got free with Tzanyo Zvúncharov in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tzanyo Zvúncharov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valdemar Morais in the 38th minute. Inácio Leite showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vanko Korchev, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pavlin Karadimitrov in the 45th minute of play forced Viseu United's goalkeeper Inácio Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
