Eriberto Schmidt kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After 26 played minutes Garanhão do SUL got a freekick which was hit by Silvério Brochado. If Benjamim Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raimundo Delgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chico Carneiro in the 32nd minute of play. Flamengo FSCMZ's Celso Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Danilo Tande's late challenge caught a Garanhão do SUL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danilo Tande helped the player get up and apologised. After 39 played minutes Flamengo FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Danilo Tande. 44 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goal looked a bit too open when Chico Carneiro came free, but Raimundo Delgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vitinho Bastos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrício Poças, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 59th minute, Silvério Sabrosa reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vitinho Bastos. The goal made the score 0-1. Garanhão do SUL's Álvaro Calçada was substituted for Patrício Poças. After a rather tough play, Flamengo FSCMZ's Eusébio Andrade got a free kick in the 69th minute. Flamengo FSCMZ's Vitinho Bastos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo FSCMZ from getting a goal against them. Silvério Sabrosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Álvaro Calçada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitinho Bastos having to interfere. The Garanhão do SUL supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Garanhão do SUL would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
