Rusty Little was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Milton Heath's late challenge caught a Magallanes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Milton Heath helped the player get up and apologised. In the 32nd match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milton Heath to maneuver through the defense. Magallanes's Silvio Lastarria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Finn in the 81st minute of play.
