In the 14th minute, Enrico Schlüssel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Christoffel Leers in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Andre Zurbuchen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Christian Meys had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andre Zurbuchen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Christian Meys went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 32 minutes into the match, Freeman Mächler notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Brugge United's Rudy Panhuijsen. Rudy Panhuijsen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 35th match minute, Espen Steelers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrico Schlüssel to maneuver through the defense. Rudy Panhuijsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Freeman Mächler, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Kenan Vinciguerra's late challenge caught a Brugge United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kenan Vinciguerra helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Espen Steelers getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Kenan Vinciguerra hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Espen Steelers's Kenan Vinciguerra got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Christoffel Leers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brugge United's supporters rose to their feet, but Christoffel Leers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andre Zurbuchen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Christian Meys fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Zurbuchen having to interfere. When Hubert Gartenmann fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Espen Steelers's protests and gave Hubert Gartenmann a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Espen Steelers fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 48th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Andre Zurbuchen, was totally fooled by Brugge United's Nicolaas Deschrijver, who 50 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Christoffel Leers was the one to do the kick off. Andre Zurbuchen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christoffel Leers, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 57 minutes, Nicolaas Deschrijver mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brugge United and the Espen Steelers players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 57 played minutes Brugge United got a freekick which was hit by Nicolaas Deschrijver. 61 minutes into the match, Freeman Mächler dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Rudy Panhuijsen, 2-2. Christoffel Leers kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Camiel Hennes during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 72nd minute, Camiel Hennes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 83rd match minute, Espen Steelers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Léveillé to maneuver through the defense. Christoffel Leers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 90 minutes into the game, Gianni Rohr was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Espen Steelers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brugge United the free kick. If Harrison Muntwyler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Espen Steelers failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
