The supporters of Espen Steelers booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kevin Zenón didn't get a good kick on the ball. Harrison Muntwyler succeeded in the game's 82nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-0. Ariel Urbasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harrison Muntwyler in the 87th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Espen Steelers's Freeman Mächler sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ariel Urbasa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. During the 91st minute of the match Angelino Pelagius completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Angelino Pelagius a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Geordi Gerig might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ariel Urbasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
