Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dries Dirckx made the kick off and thus started the match. Dries Dirckx recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rudy Panhuijsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Conrao, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Brugge United's Ariel Urbasa threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dries Dirckx, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rosendo Orixe hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. When Alberto Conrao fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting de Gijón's protests and gave Alberto Conrao a yellow card for diving instead. Alberto Conrao kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. The supporters of Brugge United booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benicio Edorta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ariel Urbasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jochen Diericx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 18 played minutes Brugge United got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Sevenans. In the 21stth minute of the game Dries Dirckx who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Ariel Urbasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Angelino Pelagius hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Dries Dirckx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ariel Urbasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Sporting de Gijón's Ariel Urbasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dries Dirckx in the 30th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dries Dirckx in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ariel Urbasa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Dries Dirckx took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ariel Urbasa to make any attempt to save it. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting de Gijón's zone, Dries Dirckx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ariel Urbasa came out of the goal and Dries Dirckx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Casimiro Galindo in the 44th minute of play forced Brugge United's goalkeeper Rudy Panhuijsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lennert Van Meerbeec during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lennert Van Meerbeec kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Conrao came free, but Rudy Panhuijsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The wind increased when Casimiro Galindo made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Brugge United getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Tjorven Jaddon hit a great ball. Casimiro Galindo scored 1-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rudy Panhuijsen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dries Dirckx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Ariel Urbasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dries Dirckx in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ariel Urbasa saved Sporting de Gijón from getting behind. In the 65th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Conrao to maneuver through the defense. After 68 minutes of play, Sporting de Gijón's Casimiro Galindo made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rudy Panhuijsen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dries Dirckx kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Brugge United's Camiel Hennes got a free kick in the 73rd minute. After 76 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Casimiro Galindo. In the 80th match minute, Brugge United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camiel Hennes to maneuver through the defense. Sporting de Gijón's Alberto Conrao got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 84th play minutes Christian Meys shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Ariel Urbasa and just under the crossbar into goal. Ariel Urbasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jochen Diericx in the 86th minute of play. Alberto Conrao sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 94 played minutes Brugge United got a freekick which was hit by Tjorven Jaddon. Sporting de Gijón were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
