The MZ Fénix fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martinho Nunes should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Yalapa getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Aurelio Aztore hit a great ball. Vítor Severiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Constantino Elija having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vítor Severiano in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Constantino Elija saved Yalapa from getting behind. Afonso Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, MZ Fénix's Afonso Medeiros got a free kick in the 30th minute. Martinho Nunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andres Peru in the 31st minute of the match. Martinho Nunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andres Peru, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Aldaír Veiga put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Constantino Elija. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Yalapa reached it. Luciano Salvino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Martinho Nunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andres Peru in the 43rd minute of play forced MZ Fénix's goalkeeper Martinho Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Yalapa's goal looked a bit too open when Vítor Severiano came free, but Constantino Elija reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.
