Halis Tuncaral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hulki Bulut read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. KOCAELİSPOR's Arif Burak Çimen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Süleyman Taşkınay in the 30th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, KOCAELİSPOR's goal looked a bit too open when Mehmet Baler came free, but Arif Burak Çimen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mustafa Emrah Mertoğlu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Hulki Bulut 43 minutes into the match. After 47 played minutes BAŞBUĞ got a freekick which was hit by Alphan Toker. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gökalp Koca to make the kick off. The supporters of KOCAELİSPOR booed when BAŞBUĞ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alphan Toker didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the game, BAŞBUĞ's Gökalp Koca nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arif Burak Çimen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. KOCAELİSPOR made a substitution. Bahadır Rasif replaced Barbaros Çelebioğlu. KOCAELİSPOR's Vefa İlenç was substituted for Kerimhan Yalavaç. In the 67th minute Süleyman Taşkınay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arif Burak Çimen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Süleyman Taşkınay hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Hulki Bulut made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ali Faruk Hasanoğlu in the 79th minute of play. Hulki Bulut took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ali Faruk Hasanoğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 83rd minute, Emir Jøker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, BAŞBUĞ's Emir Jøker got a free kick in the 85th minute. Mustafa Birol Uğurtay hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. After having played for 88 minutes, Ali Faruk Hasanoğlu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KOCAELİSPOR's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ali Faruk Hasanoğlu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. BAŞBUĞ's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
