Diamantino Barbosa started the match with the kick off. 7 minutes into the match, Harold Reynders notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Grêmio FBPA's Osvaldinho Marquez. Osvaldinho Marquez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 11 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Noel Moerman came free, but Osvaldinho Marquez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Edu Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adam de Reyck was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Amadeu Pitta. After 19 played minutes Olavarria FC got a freekick which was hit by Herald Dujardin. Adam de Reyck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diamantino Barbosa in the 20th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Reinaert Van Elsen during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Olavarria FC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Reinaert Van Elsen hit a great ball. Grêmio FBPA's Osvaldinho Marquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herald Dujardin in the 26th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Lauren Deconynck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edu Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stephen Camps during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Osvaldinho Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Noel Moerman, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when Olavarria FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geert-Jan De Messemaeckre didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th minute, Herald Dujardin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Osvaldinho Marquez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Harold Reynders to strike the kick off in the second half. If Noel Moerman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Olavarria FC's Harold Reynders got a free kick in the 63rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Herald Dujardin got free with Osvaldinho Marquez in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Osvaldinho Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harold Reynders, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Herald Dujardin scored 0-3 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Osvaldinho Marquez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Grêmio FBPA's Diamantino Barbosa got a free kick in the 92nd minute. In the 94th minute, Herald Dujardin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Osvaldinho Marquez. The goal made the score 0-4. The Olavarria FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Olavarria FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
