The goalkeeper, Kajetan Kossakowski, was totally fooled by Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Edu Alcântara, who 46 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Waclaw Zagrobelny made a kick off. After some careless play in the Newcastle United defense, Erivaldo Paraibano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kajetan Kossakowski. The Newcastle United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kajetan Kossakowski should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
