After 6 played minutes Barrio Norte FC got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Javier Millapan. Tadeu Correia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leonardo Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Montevideo booed when Barrio Norte FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Odón Gurruchaga didn't get a good kick on the ball. 18 minutes into the game, Barrio Norte FC's Abel Espejo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruy Loureiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Laurín Vela made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Carlos Tróia in the 24th minute. After 26 played minutes Barrio Norte FC got a freekick which was hit by Abel Espejo. After some careless play in the Montevideo defense, Eugenio Dietsch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruy Loureiro. The Montevideo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruy Loureiro should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tadeu Correia in the 36th minute of play forced Barrio Norte FC's goalkeeper Laurín Vela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Carlos Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Laurín Vela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zé Carlos Tróia was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes of play Barrio Norte FC's Isaac Aballay was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Barrio Norte FC's Isaac Aballay got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 53rd minute of the match Tadeu Correia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Laurín Vela showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Eugenio Dietsch came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Barrio Norte FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eugenio Dietsch couldn't finish the play. After 63 played minutes Barrio Norte FC got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Javier Millapan. In the 88th minute, Eugenio Dietsch reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ruy Loureiro. The goal made the score 0-4.
