The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 7 played minutes BAIRES got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Dominic. Leo Gaskon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Honorato Calado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Silverio Lucado hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in BAIRES's zone, Gentil Vasques stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leo Gaskon came out of the goal and Gentil Vasques tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Constantino Behe blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Octávio Moita having to make a save. Octávio Moita made an important save on a dangerous shot by Braulio Olo in the 27th minute. Constantino Behe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alberto Dominic's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Octávio Moita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Honorato Calado took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leo Gaskon. Leo Gaskon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After the first half SC Braga were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Honorato Calado made a kick off. The supporters of BAIRES booed when SC Braga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caetano Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the SC Braga defense, Braulio Olo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Octávio Moita. The SC Braga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Octávio Moita should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd match minute, SC Braga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Belo to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Lizbeth in the 67th minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Octávio Moita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Braga's Octávio Moita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Dominic in the 69th minute of play. In the 80th minute Honorato Calado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leo Gaskon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 86 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when Braulio Olo came free, but Octávio Moita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
