Adrianinho Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eriberto Vaz in the 3rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho Lara in the 5th minute of play forced Noia's goalkeeper Adrianinho Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13thth minute of the game Marcel Loyola who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's José do Vale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Durvalino Ferreira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but José do Vale made a huge save. If Pedrinho Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 20 minutes, Genílson Cardozo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Noia and the SAO JOANENSE FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Genílson Cardozo kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. José do Vale made an important save on a dangerous shot by Durvalino Ferreira in the 26th minute. Angelo Magalhães hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the game, Wiliam Matorin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Adrianinho Gonçalves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Noia's Adrianinho Gonçalves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eriberto Vaz in the 32nd minute of play. Durvalino Ferreira scored 1-1 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José do Vale, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eriberto Vaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Gonçalves having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Loyola came free, but José do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Eriberto Vaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th match minute, Noia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dário Saldanha to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 52ndth minute of the game Wiliam Matorin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Noia's Adrianinho Gonçalves was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Pedrinho Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Loyola came free, but José do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 60 minutes had been played when some careless play by SAO JOANENSE FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Genílson Cardozo was slow to take the kick. During this time Noia's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Genílson Cardozo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SAO JOANENSE FC's José do Vale did a great save. In the 69th minute, Durvalino Ferreira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 76 played minutes Noia got a freekick which was hit by Cléberson de Carvalho. Eriberto Vaz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Adrianinho Gonçalves made a huge save. After a rather tough play, SAO JOANENSE FC's Angelo Magalhães got a free kick in the 78th minute. After some careless play in the SAO JOANENSE FC defense, Marcel Loyola kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José do Vale. The SAO JOANENSE FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José do Vale should have stopped the shot. A collision led to SAO JOANENSE FC getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Pedrinho Lara hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in SAO JOANENSE FC's zone, Marcel Loyola stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José do Vale came out of the goal and Marcel Loyola tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durvalino Ferreira in the 90th minute of the match. When Durvalino Ferreira came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Noia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durvalino Ferreira couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute, Noia's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Angelo Magalhães fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.
