The audience thought a goal was coming when Albert Andrieșanu got free with José do Vale in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in SAO JOANENSE FC's zone, Costel Dorineanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José do Vale came out of the goal and Costel Dorineanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 10th minute Costel Dorineanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 11 played minutes SAO JOANENSE FC got a freekick which was hit by Cássio Mangueira. 12 minutes into the match, Irinel Ivașcu sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because José do Vale threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Irinel Ivașcu this time. Gheorghe Vărzaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eriberto Vaz in the 13th minute of the match. Costel Dorineanu took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José do Vale. José do Vale dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The supporters of SAO JOANENSE FC booed when FC Buzău was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sorin Cristoiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eriberto Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the game, Costel Dorineanu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. José do Vale was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 27th match minute, FC Buzău was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sorin Cristoiu to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the match, Angelo Magalhães notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of FC Buzău's Gheorghe Vărzaru. Gheorghe Vărzaru was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 32nd match minute, SAO JOANENSE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Mangueira to maneuver through the defense. Gheorghe Vărzaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wiliam Matorin in the 37th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Buzău booed when SAO JOANENSE FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrinho Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. José do Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Costel Dorineanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eriberto Vaz was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match, Wiliam Matorin tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gheorghe Vărzaru saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. José do Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Costel Dorineanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 58 minutes into the match, Costel Dorineanu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José do Vale. SAO JOANENSE FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Costel Dorineanu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. In the 63rdth minute of the game Costel Dorineanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's José do Vale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 64 minutes into the match, FC Buzău's goal looked a bit too open when Wiliam Matorin came free, but Gheorghe Vărzaru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th match minute, FC Buzău was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costel Dorineanu to maneuver through the defense. Angelo Magalhães took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gheorghe Vărzaru. Gheorghe Vărzaru dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. SAO JOANENSE FC's José do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Costel Dorineanu in the 86th minute of play. After having played for 89 minutes, Narcis Săndulescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Buzău's supporters crossed their fingers, but Narcis Săndulescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When FC Buzău's Costel Dorineanu in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The FC Buzău fans cheered their team off the field, for while SAO JOANENSE FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
