After some careless play in the FC UNIREA Alba Iulia defense, Costel Dorineanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nechifor Oargă. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nechifor Oargă prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 23rd minute Costel Dorineanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Oargă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Narcis Săndulescu fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Buzău's protests and gave Narcis Săndulescu a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Buzău getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Narcis Săndulescu hit a great ball. Nechifor Oargă didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Narcis Săndulescu went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. When FC Buzău's Costel Dorineanu in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Costel Dorineanu in the 43rd minute of play forced FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goalkeeper Nechifor Oargă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

Nechifor Oargă was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Costel Dorineanu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Costel Dorineanu really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. In the 55th minute, Gigi Câmpeanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Costel Dorineanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 67 minutes, Costică Ungureanu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC UNIREA Alba Iulia and the FC Buzău players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's Costică Ungureanu got a free kick in the 67th minute. After having played for 68 minutes, Horea Ştati managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Buzău's supporters crossed their fingers, but Horea Ştati was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 69 played minutes FC UNIREA Alba Iulia got a freekick which was hit by Costică Ungureanu. Nechifor Oargă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costel Dorineanu in the 71st minute of play. Gheorghe Vărzaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gigi Câmpeanu in the 72nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, FC Buzău's Valer Gârdan got a free kick in the 78th minute. Horea Ştati took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nechifor Oargă. Nechifor Oargă dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-7. A hard shot 83 in the game by Costel Dorineanu from a close distance when the talented Nechifor Oargă managed to make a qualified save. FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's players were relieved. In the 87th minute, Horea Ştati got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's zone, Gavril Groza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nechifor Oargă came out of the goal and Gavril Groza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nechifor Oargă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costel Dorineanu in the 91st minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goalkeeper Nechifor Oargă had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Costel Dorineanu. Horea Ştati received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nechifor Oargă came out and tried to block the shot, but Horea Ştati slotted it home off the left post making it 1-8 in the 93rd minute.
