Albirex Niigata FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 3rd minute, when David Woltering scored to the left of an out of position Daniel Chuan, making the score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferit Port in the 9th minute of play forced Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper Daniel Chuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Vorwärts Lübeck getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Marc Pöttgen hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Ali Ramachandran's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jochen Doll was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Vorwärts Lübeck's David Woltering slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Daniel Chuan. That made the score 2-0 after 14 minutes of play. In the 21st minute Waldemar Scheuch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Chuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Albirex Niigata FC's goal looked a bit too open when David Woltering came free, but Daniel Chuan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes in the game, Waldemar Scheuch fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Daniel Chuan having to interfere. David Woltering had several of the Albirex Niigata FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 28 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-0 score and a disappointed Daniel Chuan as he didn't even see the shot coming. When Waldemar Scheuch came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Vorwärts Lübeck fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Waldemar Scheuch couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Vorwärts Lübeck booed when Albirex Niigata FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wei Xuan Chandran didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute, Vorwärts Lübeck's David Woltering ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Daniel Chuan. Daniel Chuan yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ali Ramachandran stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Chuan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Woltering, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. David Woltering received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Daniel Chuan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Woltering in the 57th minute of play forced Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper Daniel Chuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jochen Doll made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afriz Hian in the 59th minute of play. Emmo Wilhelm charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emmo Wilhelm the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vorwärts Lübeck's goalkeeper Jochen Doll, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Chuan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Woltering in the 67th minute of the match. Vorwärts Lübeck's David Woltering got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Khairil Lum hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Jochen Doll made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afriz Hian in the 71st minute of play. Waldemar Scheuch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Wei Xuan Chandran fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Albirex Niigata FC's protests and gave Wei Xuan Chandran a yellow card for diving instead. In the 79th match minute, Albirex Niigata FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wei Xuan Chandran to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Chuan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Woltering, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Folker Witzke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers David Woltering in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Daniel Chuan saved Albirex Niigata FC from getting behind. Daniel Chuan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Woltering in the 85th minute of play. If Waldemar Scheuch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Folker Witzke in the 91st minute of play forced Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper Daniel Chuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Afiz Butcher during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Albirex Niigata FC's Afiz Butcher got a free kick in the 92nd minute. If Ali Ramachandran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vorwärts Lübeck were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
