After a defensive mix-up in Talleres de Escalada's zone, Alexandre Taillaert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angelo Sugoi came out of the goal and Alexandre Taillaert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 15th match minute, Club Atlético de Newell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenny Notley to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th match minute, Talleres de Escalada was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Candido Savier to maneuver through the defense. After 20 played minutes Club Atlético de Newell got a freekick which was hit by Benji Kay. Matthew Edwards showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulino Fernendo, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. The supporters of Talleres de Escalada booed when Club Atlético de Newell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kenny Notley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Angelo Sugoi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alexandre Taillaert's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Matthew Edwards didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulino Fernendo went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Jay Holmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Angelo Sugoi made a huge save. 37 minutes into the match, Talleres de Escalada's goalkeeper Angelo Sugoi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jay Holmes. In the 39th minute Jay Holmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelo Sugoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Club Atlético de Newell's Philip Bakewell got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Talleres de Escalada getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Jimeno Fresco hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alexandre Taillaert to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Candido Savier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 52 minutes into the match, Jay Holmes notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Talleres de Escalada's Angelo Sugoi. Angelo Sugoi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético de Newell's Jay Holmes got a free kick in the 58th minute. The Talleres de Escalada fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Angelo Sugoi should have stopped the shot. Jay Holmes kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match.
