In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Samsunspor's goalkeeper Hayri İlksen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 29 minutes, Pawel Pieprz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Purple Shadows's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pawel Pieprz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hayri İlksen made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Dobromir Fafinski sent off a good shot on target. The Samsunspor fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hayri İlksen should have stopped the shot.
