Yanko Milakiev came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Real Club Celta de Vigo's Burni Justo. But to his dismay, Burni Justo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 31st minute Bladi Lama shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yanko Milakiev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristo Rico stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Subin Kamberski's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Boris Pargov struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Elixio Garzon's late challenge caught a The Institute's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elixio Garzon helped the player get up and apologised. The Institute's Subin Kamberski got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 47th minute, Polifemo Herrera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Real Club Celta de Vigo were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
