The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Duda Abraão helped the player get up and apologised. In the 4th match minute, Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duda Abraão to maneuver through the defense. When Giovani Veloso fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ's protests and gave Giovani Veloso a yellow card for diving instead. Steff Winnepenninck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joris Tijs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Gláuber Rosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Genk's Steff Winnepenninck slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gláuber Rosa. That made the score 1-0 after 16 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ's Fabiano Mendonça got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivo De Backer in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gláuber Rosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 25th minute, Joris Tijs reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gláuber Rosa. The goal made the score 2-0. Joris Tijs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Gláuber Rosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute of the match Genk got a corner. Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ivo De Backer ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Ivo De Backer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gláuber Rosa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 39th minute, Adriano Rosa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jordi Peten was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Genk's goalkeeper Jordi Peten, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adriano Rosa to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Mendonça in the 59th minute of play forced Genk's goalkeeper Jordi Peten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Genk's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiano Mendonça came free, but Jordi Peten reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Genk booed when Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gláuber Rosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steff Winnepenninck, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After having played for 66 minutes, Ivo De Backer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Genk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivo De Backer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ's Fabiano Mendonça slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jordi Peten. That made the score 3-2 after 72 minutes of play. Steff Winnepenninck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gláuber Rosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Gláuber Rosa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. Gláuber Rosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thys De Bruijn, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. A collision led to Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Guga Valadares hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Jaraguá do Sul FSCMZ's Adriano Rosa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jordi Peten. That made the score 4-4 after 94 minutes of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
