Buğra Irmak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivo De Backer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf in the 9th minute of play forced ÇORUM FK's goalkeeper Buğra Irmak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jordi Peten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mustafa Anıl Palabıyık, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivo De Backer in the 12th minute of play forced ÇORUM FK's goalkeeper Buğra Irmak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Genk booed when ÇORUM FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gökay Oncubay didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute, Steff Winnepenninck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. ÇORUM FK's Buğra Irmak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf in the 22nd minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Ivo De Backer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Buğra Irmak quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jordi Peten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mustafa Anıl Palabıyık in the 24th minute of play. 0-1 became the score in the 26th minute when Ivo De Backer elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. A collision led to ÇORUM FK getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Mustafa Birol Bahçıvan hit a great ball. If Ivo De Backer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Joris Tijs notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of ÇORUM FK's Buğra Irmak. Buğra Irmak was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Buğra Irmak stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Joris Tijs notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of ÇORUM FK's Buğra Irmak. Buğra Irmak was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivo De Backer in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Buğra Irmak prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 58thth minute of the game Mustafa Anıl Palabıyık who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Genk's Jordi Peten was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 63 played minutes, ÇORUM FK's Abdulmelik Helvacıoğlu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jordi Peten came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in ÇORUM FK reached it. Joris Tijs blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Buğra Irmak having to make a save. After a rather tough play, ÇORUM FK's Gökay Oncubay got a free kick in the 65th minute. ÇORUM FK's Buğra Irmak proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save ÇORUM FK from getting a goal against them. Buğra Irmak made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joris Tijs in the 72nd minute. 73 minutes into the match, Genk's goal looked a bit too open when Mustafa Anıl Palabıyık came free, but Jordi Peten reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Ivo De Backer notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of ÇORUM FK's Buğra Irmak. Buğra Irmak was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jordi Peten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mustafa Anıl Palabıyık in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Genk's Joris Tijs ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Buğra Irmak. Buğra Irmak yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. Genk played a much better game than ÇORUM FK and deserved their victory. The ÇORUM FK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
