If Luiz Fábio Hermes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th match minute, Imbituba - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joélson Madureira to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Academia Rio booed when Imbituba - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fábio Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Fábio Hermes struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Iurie Mutu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Imbituba - FSCMZ. After 36 played minutes Imbituba - FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Lino Souto. Iurie Mutu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Hermes in the 44th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 52nd minute, Joélson Madureira fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 56th minute Marian Ozon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. János Oltean hit a great ball. Marian Ozon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jeremias Vale having to make a save. In the 63rd minute János Oltean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Imbituba - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when János Oltean came free, but Jeremias Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Imbituba - FSCMZ's Jeremias Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by János Oltean in the 71st minute of play. Enéas Rodrigues kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Academia Rio's Horia Berceanu couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Imbituba - FSCMZ. After a rather tough play, Imbituba - FSCMZ's Enéas Rodrigues got a free kick in the 83rd minute. After 90 played minutes Academia Rio got a freekick which was hit by Horia Berceanu. After having played for 92 minutes, Joélson Madureira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Imbituba - FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joélson Madureira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Imbituba - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Luiz Fábio Hermes hit a great ball. Academia Rio walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
