Hector Eufrasio kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Saturnino Marques during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th minute, Alexandre Breckenfeld got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Everardo Ospetsu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nemesio Dimas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandre Breckenfeld in the 19th minute of play. Atlético Montserrat's Nemesio Dimas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Breckenfeld in the 22nd minute of play. A collision led to Atlético Montserrat getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Eleuterio Firmin hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Everardo Ospetsu got free with Nilson de Amorim in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. B-S-L's Nilson de Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save B-S-L from getting a goal against them. 35 minutes into the match, B-S-L's goal looked a bit too open when Ildefonso Valente came free, but Nilson de Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nilson de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ildefonso Valente in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th match minute, Atlético Montserrat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cornelio Domingues to maneuver through the defense. Carlinhos Sergipano was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 41st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 43rd minute, Atlético Montserrat's Everardo Ospetsu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
