Ruesga Melo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José de Amorim in the 4th minute of play. When Darío Salinas fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River LOA's protests and gave Darío Salinas a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 played minutes River LOA got a freekick which was hit by Darío Salinas. Ruesga Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José de Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ruesga Melo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fernandinho Veloso's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. Darío Salinas was shown his second yellow card after 16 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, River LOA's Darío Salinas got a free kick in the 17th minute. Ruesga Melo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Falcão in the 22nd minute of play. Ruesga Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Falcão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute, Carlos Fernando Freire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Júnior Fernández managed to get in a good position for a shot. River LOA's supporters rose to their feet, but Júnior Fernández was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldão Lucas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fernandinho Veloso's late challenge caught a River LOA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fernandinho Veloso helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of River LOA booed when Scarlet Speedster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernandinho Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ruesga Melo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernandinho Veloso in the 35th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Virgilio Dibarrart during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to River LOA getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Virgilio Dibarrart hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernandinho Veloso in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ruesga Melo saved River LOA from getting behind. José de Amorim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Scarlet Speedster's Fernandinho Veloso in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye River LOA's goalie prevented a goal. If José de Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José de Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruesga Melo having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Ruesga Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José de Amorim, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Fernandinho Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to River LOA getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Niguel Maffet hit a great ball. Alex Falcão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Júnior Fernández had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernandinho Veloso struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Ruesga Melo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Scarlet Speedster. In the 78th minute, Naldo de Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ronaldão Lucas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júnior Fernández in the 80th minute of play. Virgilio Dibarrart was shown his second yellow card after 86 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 92 minutes into the game, Scarlet Speedster's Alex Falcão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruesga Melo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Scarlet Speedster's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
