Karhulan Veikot's Samuel Pihkala proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Karhulan Veikot from getting a goal against them. In the 21st match minute, Karhulan Veikot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aadolf Martikainen to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anthony Pietrantoni got free with Samuel Pihkala in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute Turo Raninen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Falcioni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 28 played minutes Karhulan Veikot got a freekick which was hit by Veikka Heliskoski. 32 minutes into the match, Aadolf Martikainen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dave Falcioni. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Samuel Pihkala prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 37 minutes into the game, Aldo Catini was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Burnley FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Karhulan Veikot the free kick. Burnley FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Antonello Pocobello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Samuel Pihkala breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Turo Raninen kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
