Carlos James stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Damaso Playo's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severo Rexino in the 8th minute of play forced Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Enrique Urtsin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Moises Jakue hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. When Damaso Playo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 16 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Carlos James was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damaso Playo in the 18th minute of play forced Magicos's goalkeeper Carlos James to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Damaso Playo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vélez Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Damaso Playo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos James breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Magicos's Carlos James played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damaso Playo in the 22nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damaso Playo in the 22nd minute of play forced Magicos's goalkeeper Carlos James to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Damaso Playo in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos James prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Damaso Playo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos James having to interfere. Florentino Gaspard hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Carlos James took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florentino Gaspard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Moises Jakue's late challenge caught a Vélez Juniors's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Moises Jakue helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th match minute, Magicos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moises Jakue to maneuver through the defense. Carlos James showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rogelio Madeo, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After 39 played minutes Magicos got a freekick which was hit by Moises Jakue. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rogelio Madeo to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes Magicos's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Florentino Gaspard who took care of the corner kick. If Damaso Playo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Magicos's Carlos James got control of the ball when Damaso Playo tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Mateo Gonzo fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vélez Juniors's protests and gave Mateo Gonzo a yellow card for diving instead. After 67 played minutes, Magicos's Matias Gauargi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Enrique Urtsin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Magicos reached it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Santiago Abel during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Damaso Playo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Severo Rexino took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Enrique Urtsin. Enrique Urtsin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After some careless play in the Vélez Juniors defense, Moises Jakue kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Enrique Urtsin. The Vélez Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Enrique Urtsin should have stopped the shot.
