With a couple of smart ball manuevers Venancio Pancho in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enrique Urtsin saved Vélez Juniors from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Venancio Pancho in the 43rd minute of play forced Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Enrique Urtsin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute, Apolo Ascencio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

For all the effort they put into the match, the Vélez Juniors players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for 1989 Blxsk.
