Rogelio Madeo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Enrique Urtsin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moises Jakue, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Hernan Gonchan in the 16thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Carlos James, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Magicos booed when Vélez Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Lleir didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos James showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hernan Gonchan in the 34th minute of the match. Hernan Gonchan took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos James. Carlos James dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hernan Gonchan got free with Carlos James in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rogelio Madeo was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Magicos's Laureano Heriberto dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Magicos's Carlos James played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernan Gonchan in the 57th minute of play. In the 58th minute Mateo Gonzo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos James saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Magicos defense, Rogelio Madeo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos James. The Magicos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos James should have stopped the shot. After 79 played minutes Vélez Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Emilio Serafo. Moises Jakue struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Enrique Urtsin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Magicos. The supporters of Magicos booed when Vélez Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvio Firme didn't get a good kick on the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Magicos players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vélez Juniors.
